I built the tool I needed and couldn't find.

— ABOUT

Oblige exists because independent operators have been running serious, revenue-generating work on infrastructure that was never built for them.

The founder
Why I
built this.

I've spent years as an independent operator — coordinating clients, managing vendors, absorbing risk, and carrying the structural weight of projects that other people would never see the back end of. Experiential strategy, deal facilitation, production work. The kind of work where your reputation is on the line on both sides of every agreement.

And through all of it, I ran on the same patchwork everyone else runs on. Email threads. Templated agreements copy-pasted from one job to the next. Spreadsheets tracking milestones and payments that no one else could read. The infrastructure was always on me.

The problem wasn't that I was disorganized. The problem was that no tool existed for the way independent operators actually work — managing obligations above to clients and obligations below to vendors, simultaneously, with real money on both ends.

I built Oblige because I lived the gap. And I built it for every operator who's carrying that same weight right now and calling it normal when it's not. It's not a skill problem. It's an infrastructure problem.

Independent operators aren't under-organized. They're under-infrastructured. There's a difference — and it changes everything about how you build the solution.
Amanda Reese · Founder, Oblige

Oblige is built on a single conviction: serious, project-based work deserves serious operational infrastructure. Not enterprise software retrofitted for small teams. Not generic project management tools that ignore the financial and legal layer. Something purpose-built for operators who work in the space between client and vendor — and who carry the accountability for both.

The mission
Infrastructure for the independent operator.

The professional independence economy is real and it's growing. Producers, studio leads, concierges, fractional operators, and founders are building businesses that rival agencies in scope and complexity — without the back-office support that agencies take for granted.

Oblige closes that gap. Structured agreements. Aligned milestones. Clear payment accountability. An audit trail that builds itself. The operating system for independent work done at a professional standard.

01
Agreements are operational, not administrative.
A contract isn't a formality you file away. It's the structure your entire project runs on. Oblige treats agreements as living operational documents — tied to milestones, payments, and accountability from day one.
02
Your exposure should always be covered below.
Every commitment you make to a client should be mirrored by a secured commitment from your vendor. The gap between what you've promised and what you've locked in is where operators get hurt. Oblige closes it.
03
Clarity is a competitive advantage.
Operators who run with structure — clear scope, defined milestones, documented payments — close faster, deliver better, and protect their margins. Profitable calm isn't an accident. It's what infrastructure produces.
04
Independent doesn't mean under-supported.
The operators building this economy deserve tools built specifically for how they work — not watered-down enterprise software or generic task managers. Oblige is purpose-built for the dual-layer complexity of project-based independent work.
